A solo exhibition developed from research into greetings, weather, plants, encounters in the city, time spent on an uninhabited island, and the experience of sensing “the thing itself.” Weather data gathered by an observation device on the rooftop changes the light, sound, moving images, heat, and air currents inside the exhibition space. Surrounded by narration, plants, a distiller, moving images, and devices, visitors encounter how everyday greetings and neighbourhood conversations become connected to place, body, and memory. The experience of the uninhabited island forms the ground of the exhibition as a sense that drift objects, waves, stones, and wind appear as themselves.

Hey, _ is a solo exhibition composed from research into greetings, experiences on an uninhabited island, and an interest in wind holes on the Oga Peninsula. In the venue, elements within the space were controlled by real-time weather data measured by an observation device installed on the rooftop. Visitors experienced plants, moving images, sound, heat, and narration as a situation in which weather, memory, and everyday social gestures relate to one another.

The work moves between city and island, between casual greeting and exposure to the environment. Visitors sit on a sofa and listen to the artist speak about weather, neighbours, plants, cats, typhoons from childhood, and places reached through walking and movement. Around this narration, devices, moving images, heat, and plants respond to current environmental conditions.
